Defference Between Suspension Vs Termination

The first steps to take in processing a suspension or termination of an employee begin with policy setting and should be undertaken long before an employee's the performance suggests that either suspension or termination is appropriate.

We all know the differences between suspensions and terminations. I read that companies do suspensions first even if they want to terminate someone in order to buy time to discuss all possible problems with termination with their lawyers, get all their ducks in a row before the fire finally.

We all know the differences between suspensions and terminations. I read that companies do suspensions first even if they want to terminate someone in order to buy time to discuss all possible problems with termination with their lawyers, get all their ducks in a row before the fire finally.

In my case, I was suspended for Friday and asked to come back for a meeting on Monday - which I am going to attend. But I was wondering why would do that other than the advantages mentioned above. I mean why they would want to suspend me on Friday and then terminate me on Monday. Either way, they are not going to pay for 4 days anyway.

From a legal standpoint, I am wondering if there could be any other reasons for suspending workers than firing.

Employer Policies: Suspension and Termination

Employers frequently suspend an employee rather than firing him for a couple of reasons. First, some misconduct is minor, such as taking a few office supplies or not performing a task. Typically, such suspensions are preceded by a written or oral reprimand. Second, a worker may be suspended pending investigation of serious misconduct. In either case, a suspension does not necessarily mean the employee will be fired. Termination is usually held as a last resort and used if the unacceptable behavior isn’t corrected or if an investigation shows misconduct is serious enough to warrant dismissal.

Termination and suspension? Does it have the same impact on the career of the employees?

Termination and the suspension is very much different from each other so we should not confuse when we face such things some of these.

The Difference is given below:

Termination means an employee has been totally out of the job whereas suspension means if someone had done something wrong i.e. the employer has suspense on the employee
Prior notice should be given to the employee before termination. In suspension, only the inquiry is with the person. It does not have the same impact on the employee's career. My opinion is you should warn him that this wrong thing should not continue with the next time.
